What to Wear?...when having your first lesson

Having your first lesson? Don't know what to wear? Then take a few minutes to read this site!
When you go for your lesson remember that the law in the UK says that children under 14 must wear a riding hat when out on the roads.

Riding Hat
You can either wear a velvet covered riding hat or a jockey skull cap with a silk. You should always buy a new hat (not a second hand one) and make sure it meets the latest standards.

Jacket
You should either wear a waxed jacket or a shower and windproof quilted jacket. It will help to keep out the winter chill!
Arm bands
If you ride on the road you should always wear reflective and fluorescent clothing to make sure you can be seen.
Gloves
You should wear cotton, nylon or wool gloves to make sure you can get a good grip on the reins.
Jodhpurs
You can either wear ankle length jodhpurs or mid- calf length breeches. It doesn't matter what colour but bear in mind that if you wear cream jodhpurs they show the dirt easily.
Jodhpur Boots
When you are riding you can either wear jodhpur boots like the ones in the picture or riding boots. Jodhpurs boot are best worn with jodhpurs though (like the name suggests).
Riding Boots
Another option in riding shoes is riding boots. These are best worn with breeches though.
